Famitsu Sales Report: Switch OLED Leads Japanese Hardware Sales, Princess Peach: Showtime Tops Software Charts

The latest Japanese hardware sales data from Famitsu has been released, showing the popularity of gaming consoles in the country for the week of March 25, 2024, to March 31, 2024. According to the report, the top-selling console during this period was the Switch OLED, with 42,957 units sold. Following closely behind was the PS5 with 18,272 units, and the Switch Lite with 8,302 units.

In comparison to the previous week’s numbers, the Switch OLED saw a slight decrease in sales from 46,851 units to 42,957 units. The PS5 also experienced a decrease in sales from 24,183 units to 18,272 units, while the Switch Lite saw a slight increase from 7,826 units to 8,302 units.

On the software front, the top-selling game during this period was “Princess Peach: Showtime” for the Nintendo Switch, with 27,258 units sold and a total of 104,820 units sold to date. Other popular titles included “Rise of Ronin” for the PS5, “Winning Post 10 2024” for the Switch, and “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” for the Switch.

Overall, the gaming market in Japan continues to show strong sales for both hardware and software, with the Nintendo Switch leading the way in both categories. As the industry continues to evolve and new titles are released, it will be interesting to see how these numbers fluctuate in the coming weeks.
